Volunteer at Bustan Qaraaqa
We welcome all volunteers to join us at Bustan Qaraaqa. Whatever your abilities, age, or nationality, we'd love to have you here. We spend three days a week working on the Bustan Qaraaqa site, maintaining and building sustainable living systems. Activities vary- from building rocket stoves to harvesting olives - and you'll learn about permaculture designs, the Palestinian environment and ecosystems, and dry land farming. Two days a week, we work with our community partners, implementing sustainable living and water-conservation techniques, and learning about Palestinian farming and herding. On Friday and Saturday we take time off. Volunteers often use these days to visit Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Hebron, take trips into the desert, or relax at the farm. Accommodation is provided in an eight-person dorm at the centre of the site or in a cave. All meals are included, and we share cooking duties. In addition to conventional kitchen and shower facilities in the farmhouse we offer the opportunity to use an ecological system demonstrating alternative domestic technologies in practice, the Bayt Igzaz. We ask that volunteers contribute 120 ILS a night or 840 ILS per week to cover the costs of their stay. Longer-term volunteers receive discounted rates; get in touch with us to learn more. |
